A STRANGE SEPTEMBER (2 REMEMBER) Dedicated to Luna
By Joseph Duncan
Tuesday, September 13, 2011 12:54 AM PDT BAKERSFIELD, CA (VP) - Odd happenings took place well before the event had even begun. A month of sunshine was interrupted by one day of thunderstorms and flooding. A dead parrot was found outside in the northern parking lot. The band Society's Child from San Luis Obispo, California rocked the house while the crowd settled in. Technical issues plagued the start of the event. Once everything got situated, we had one hell of a night at the historic Dome in Bakersfield. All-in-all, it made for a September that will most definitely be remembered by the fans and the roster of Vendetta Pro Wrestling, and it was all dedicated to the memory of Gertrude Elizabeth "Luna" Vachon.
For the first time ever, all three Vendetta Pro major championships were on the line! Bakersfield's own Dos Perfectos put their newly-won Tag-Team titles on the line, while Bakersfield's "Nightmare" Nathan Graves would attempt to take away the Heavweight title from Shannon Ballard--putting his own career on the line to do so, more on that to come. The Tri-Force title, which had been held by Dana Lee, had been officially vacated by Commissioner Christian Cole, and was put up for grabs. However, with this night dedicated to Luna, a Vendetta Vixens Battle Royal was held for the Luna Vachon Memorial Lunacy Cup!
Here now are the results from this exciting event! This Is Vendetta Pro!
Six-Man Tag-Team Opening Match The Team Of: Tenchismo, Ricky Ruffin, & "Bad Boy" Brad Tyler -vs.-The Team Of: J.D. Horror, Sledge, & "The Apostle" Judah Matthew The masked man Tenchismo made his Vendetta Pro debut, teaming with Ricky Ruffin and Brad Tyler to take on the team of Horror, Sledge and The Apostle--the latter who, perhaps somewhat appropriately, weighed in at a total combined weight of 666 pounds. Horror, Sledge and Apostle began the match delivering a brutal combination of rough house techniques and power-based wrestling. However, it wasn't enough to overcome the excellent team work of Tyler, Ruffin, and Tenchismo who come out with the victory in the night's opener.
Winners by Pinfall: Tenchismo, Ricky Ruffin, & Brad Tyler Tag-Team Match Vendetta Pro Wrestling Tag-Team Championship SU/KA Sunami & Kadin Anthony -vs.- Vendetta Pro Tag-Team Champions Dos Perfectos Hernandez 'Y' Jimenez Greg Hernandez made a short speech to the crowd before the match had begun, talking about how he and Jesse Jimenez grew up in Bakersfield, and how they were there for all of the great wrestling events that had taken place in their hometown. They said that the greatest moment in their lives when it came to professional wrestling was on this night, being able to make their first defense of the Vendetta Pro Tag-Team titles in front of their home crowd, which drew a tremendous response. Kadin Anthony then stated that Dos Perfectos may be the "hometown" team, but that they were "Vendetta's Hometown" heroes. Sunami then stated that they were going to "come hungry" and "forget their manners".
These two teams know each other very well, having battled back-and-forth for the better part of the year. Dos Perfectos won the tag titles by defeating The Pinoy Boyz, while SU/KA won a shot at the titles by, along with X-Pac, defeating the Midnight Delight and Shannon Ballard back at Summer Sizzle. At one point, Jimenez showed a great display of strength, attemping and almost pulling off what looked like a powerbomb on the nearly-300 pound Sunami, when Sunami shocked everyone by pulling off a Hurricanrana. SU/KA did their best early on to keep Dos Perfectos grounded, but Hernandez turned things around when Sunami went up to the top, and was taken over with a HUGE Superplex. Kadin did counter a splash off the top later on, and SU/KA connected with a double-team Sideslam-Legdrop combination, but when Sunami attempted to connect with the "F-Su", Hernandez slipped off his back, and shoved him into the corner where Kadin was ready to connect with a Senton Bomb. Hernandez then dropped Kadin off the top and to the outside with a stiff Superkick. Sunami attempted an Irish Whip, but Jimenez made the blind tag, which Sunami was unaware of. Jimenez hit a double-knee facebreaker (similar to an inverted Backstabber), which was followed up by a Cutter from Hernandez, and a three-count when Jimenez made the cover. Dos Perfectos retain the titles!
Winners by Pinfall and STILL Vendetta Pro Tag-Team Champions: Dos Perfectos
After The Match: As Dos Perfectos were celebrating their victory, SU/KA got back into the ring. For a moment, it looked as if a brawl were about to erupt, but then Sunami said that their feud has ended tonight, and congratulated their longtime rivals on retaining their titles. Both teams got a great reaction. They said it was over, but you can bet that SU/KA wants to be Tag-Team Champions, and right now, Dos Perfectos have the belts, so most likely their paths will cross again in the future.
Singles Match "Wrestling Personified" Rik Luxury -vs.- WWE Tough Enough Contestant "Big Nasty" Eric Watts Rik Luxury, the former Vendetta Pro Heavyweight Champ, came out and declared that "your champion is here". While this may not be a truthful statement, if Luxury could get past Watts here, he may very well be in line for the next shot at the title. Watts' cardio has been in-question since his appearance on Tough Enough, but that may be largely because what they didn't show on Tough Enough is that his opponents tend not to last very long against him in any sort of competitive nature, and he has been working very hard on improving his cardio and it showed in this match. Luxury challenged Watts to a test-of-strength to start it off. Watts accepted the challenge, and raised his hands well above what Luxury could reach. Luxury then climbed up on the turnbuckles and challenged him again. Watts again accepted, and for a moment, Luxury's leverage advantage worked in his favor. That is, until Watts stepped back, and allowed Luxury to fall flat on his face. Luxury's early match strategy worked well, going to work on the legs, and then dropping elbows and other moves to keep the bigger man grounded. The only problem for Luxury is that he is often more interested in showing off for the crowd than continuing to work on his opponent, and that is not something that will work when facing a tough opponent like Watts. Luxury attempted to put the big man away with the Luxury Alignment (backstabber) but Watts grabbed the ropes, allowing Luxury to hit the mat. Watts then attempted to put him away with a Chokeslam, but Luxury was able to escape, and then nail Watts with a Stunner. This move added both insult and injury as Luxury hinted before the match that he was going to do what "Stone Cold" failed to do and that was "take out the trash". However, Luxury once again played to the crowd rather than immediately making the pin, and it cost him when he only got a two-count. Luxury then again teased the fans by going up to the top rope, only to come down quickly and go for the cover rather than satisfy them with a high-flying move. Another two-count was the reward for Luxury's arrogance. Watts then got to his feet, and hit Luxury with a violent Chokeslam, and he immediately made a cover with got him a three-count and a win.
Winner by Pinfall: Eric Watts After The Match: "Sexy" Sean Casey and "Wildside" Vega Velocity of the Midnight Delight made their way out to confront Watts, only to have "The Rock of Love" Billy Blade come up from behind Watts, and have him turn around so to connect with an Enziguiri. Then, all three members of the Midnight Delight (four, if you include Tiana, who was not present at the time) brutally assaulted Eric Watts. Blade and Watts have had a bit of heat going on for over a year now. Blade and Casey took turns taunting both Watts and the crowd at The Dome while the other one joined Velocity in continuing to assault Watts. Soon, Commissioner Christian Cole came down from the balcony level where he and Degenerate John were doing commentary on the live Internet broadcast, courtesy of SCR Productions. Cole stated that on October 15th in Santa Maria, Casey and Blade will be facing Watts and his partner... David Hart Smith! The crowd chanted "D.H. Smith!"
One-Fall Three-Way Tri-Force Match Vendetta Pro Wrestling Tri-Force Championship "The Heatseeker" Eric Cross -vs.- Disco Machine -vs.- "Mega Bucks" Mario Banks The Tri-Force title, which had been held by Dana Lee, had been officially vacated earlier in the evening. Lee, who enlisted in the United States Army,
had already relinquished the title belt back at April Cruel's Day, but was still being recognized as the champion until a new titleholder could be crowned. After watching some of the recent performances, Commissioner Christian Cole put these three men in the ring to vie for the now-vacant title.
Banks and Disco went at it early on, virtually ignoring Cross. Cross became increasingly frustrated and eventually stated that he was in this match too. So, Disco and Banks obliged by double-teaming the "Heatseeker". However, Cross soon took advantage of a miscue, and went for a Schoolboy Rollup, nearly winning the match and the title. At one point, Disco Machine ended up on the apron, and Cross went for an Irish Whip, which was reversed by Banks, sending Cross into Disco, Disco out to the floor, and not just onto the steel barricades but actually THROUGH them into the first row. Cross and Banks continued to go at it through a portion of the match while Disco was on the outside, until Cross was low-bridged and sent to the outside by Disco. Then, Disco and Banks continued to battle until Cross got back into the action and all three men began exchanging chops. Near the end, Cross hit his Small Package Driver, but his pin attempt was broken up by Disco. Moments later, Disco connected with a Springboard Leg Lariat onto Cross which got him the three-count and the Tri-Force Championship!
Winner by Pinfall and NEW Vendetta Pro Tri-Force Champion: Disco Machine After The Match: Mario Banks congratulated Disco Machine, shaking his hand and even dancing a little bit as Disco is known to do. Good sportsmanship, but it did appear that he had made it known that he wants another opportunity at the Tri-Force belt.
The event then went into an Intermission. Then, when coming out of Intermission, Commissioner Christian Cole talked to the crowd about the tenth-anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001 on the United States. He asked the crowd instead of mourning the loss of those who were killed that day and those who have served in the military since then by giving a moment of silence, that rather, we honor their memories and service with ten seconds of noise and applause. Appropriately, a "U-S-A!" chant broke out in the crowd.
Six-Man Tag-Team Match The Midnight Delight Sean Casey, Billy Blade & Vega Velocity w/ Tiana -vs.- The Bar Room Saints D.K. Murphy, Joshua Dunbar & The Drunken Irishman w/ Bonnie Isle The Midnight Delight has already made an impact on this event, and they came into this match now looking to cap off the evening with a victory. "The Rock of Love" Billy Blade, former Vendetta Pro Heavyweight Champion "Sexy" Sean Casey and their newest addition, "Wildside" Vega Velocity. They would take on a team making their debut in Vendetta Pro: the team hailing from the nearest bar, the Bar Room Saints. "Icon" D.K. Murphy and "Project 56" Joshua Dunbar, along with the lovely but not sober Bonnie Isle, would be joined by an appropriate partner, The Drunken Irishman, who comes from any bar in Boston.
The Midnight Delight jumped the Bar Room Saints at the open, but being the stereotypical Irishmen that they are, that's what they call a "good time", especially once they countered and began pummeling all three members of the Midnight Delight. At one point, the The Drunken Irishman put Billy Blade into an Airplane Spin, making both men dizzy (which Irishman was already drunk to begin with), and then Irishman made a pinfall attempt... on referee Jaime Torres. Billy Blade administered the three-count, which of course, meant nothing except that Irishman left himself open to be attacked from the outside by Sean Casey. Blade then taunted the Saints, bringing them in while Casey and Velocity did the damage to the Irishman. Moments later, Irishman was able to pull off a desperation DDT, but was both too beaten up and too intoxicated to make the cover, which allowed Blade to regain his composure. Blade soon nailed the Irishman with his patented "Unskinny Chop", which echoes throughout the building wherever and whenever it's delivered. Towards the end, with action going on all over the ring with all six competitors, the referee became distracted while trying to get some order to the match. Billy Blade hit a low blow to Dunbar, and then, taking a beer bottle from Sean Casey on the outside and smashing it square into Dunbar's face! As you can imagine, he didn't kick out of Blade's pin attempt.
Winners by Pinfall: The Midnight Delight Co-Main Event Vendetta Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship "Nightmare" Nathan Graves -vs.- Vendetta Pro Heavyweight Champion Shannon Ballard Two ring veterans went at it here. Nathan Graves had been undefeated in Vendetta Pro Wrestling, but was forced to put his singles career on the line against Ballard's Heavyweight title. In fact, Shannon Ballard would also face being barred from singles competition is not successful in defending his title, so this match had a lot on the line.
Before the match had even started, the Midnight Delight decided to grace the crowd with their presence once again, feeling as perhaps they had not had enough Midnight Delight for one night. Being there was enough to get Graves' attention, allowing Ballard to attack from behind. That said, Nathan Graves, being in front of his hometown crowd, was pumped up and ready for just about anything. It didn't take long for them to involve themselves in the match, attempting to trip up Graves. Soon, referee Sparkey Ballard (no relation, in case you're wondering) ejected the three men from the ringside area, allowing the match to continue in a fair manner. From there, Graves began tossing the defending Champion around almost at will, including throwing him into the guard rails and the ring steps. The fans began chanting "over here!", wanting Graves to beat down Ballard directly in front of them. Graves even held Ballard so that one of our most loyal fans could get in a shot at the Champ! Graves continued to pummel the Champ, but he went to it one too many times, and Ballard ducked then countered. From there, the Champion began assaulting his challenger in an almost mocking way. He soon realized his error, and began seriously attacking Graves, not wanting to lose his title and his singles career on this night. On the outside, Ballard tossed Graves hard into the ringsteps. He then turned the ringsteps sideways, and actually attempted to piledrive Graves into the steel steps! Graves countered with a Back Bodydrop, sending Ballard back into the ring. Graves, now with a second wide, began to decimate the Champion, until he whipped him into the corner and charged in, only to be met with a boot. The Champion couldn't stay on the offensive long, and soon, Graves had Ballard locked in a Boston Crab, center of the ring! Ballard was so close to tapping, but he struggled hard and got to the ropes to break the hold. Soon, both men ended up down after Ballard ducked a Clothesline attempt, and on the rebound, they both connected. They soon exchanged blows, and Ballard connected with a Spinkick to the gut, then he went for a running forearm, but connected with the referee! Graves attempted the Elm Street Cutter, but was thrown off. Ballard attempted to come off the top, but Graves caught him and took him over with a brutal Superplex! As the two got up, Graves connected with the Elm Street Cutter, but there's no referee! Not only that, but now, the Midnight Delight came back out from out of the crowd. Not to fear, as Dos Perfectos came out with a chair to back up Graves! The Bakersfield crowd pops like crazy as three of their hometown stars are facing down the Midnight Delight, when suddenly and shockingly... Greg Hernandez whacked Nathan Graves with the chair! Ballard got the three count to retain the title, and Graves is now barred from singles competition!
Winner by Pinfall and STILL Vendetta Pro Heavyweight Champion: Shannon Ballard After The Match: Billy Blade brought the chair back into the ring and looked as if he were going to strike Graves with it again, when he unfolded it and set it up. Then, they put Graves in the chair, and began cutting his hair, saying that he now looks like he belongs in Bakersfield! Soon, most of the Vendetta Pro roster, led by "Big Nasty" Eric Watts, came out to chase off the Midnight Delight, Dos Perfectos and Heavyweight Champion Shannon Ballard. From the stage, the Midnight Delight and Shannon Ballard continued to taunt the Bakersfield crowd.
Nathan Graves laughed off the haircut, but said that if the new union of Ballard, the Midnight Delight and Dos Perfectos want a war, that they'll get a war, stating that there are many people there in the ring who are ready to team with him. What will happen from here? Keep up-to-date at

2011 Luna Vachon Memorial
Lunacy Cup
Vendetta Vixens Battle RoyalBefore this match, a special tribute video of Luna Vachon was shown on the "V-Tron". Luna Vachon was a pioneer, not only in women's wrestling, but the entire professional wrestling business, as well as a friend to many in Vendetta Pro Wrestling. This match was a Battle Royal match, featuring eight Vendetta Vixens. Two started the match, and every sixty seconds,
Thunderkitty came to the ring first. Kitana Vera second. Nikki The New York Knockout third. Buggy fourth. Yyan Nakano fifth. Katie Locke sixth. Amanda seventh. Bonnie Isle eighth.
No elimination took place until all eight competitors had entered. Nakano missed a Senton Splash, and the resulting shockwave knocked every Vendetta Vixen in the ring down. All of the women then decided at this point to gang up and eliminate her.
Order of elimination: Yyan Nakano first. Katie Locke second. Kitana Vera third. Bonnie Isle fourth. ThunderKitty fifth.
ThunderKitty did not take well to being eliminated, and she began attacking Bonnie Isle on the outside. The Bar Room Saints came down to try to separate them.
Buggy eliminated sixth. Amanda ended up on the outside but did not go over the top and therefore was not eliminated. Nikki then made a dive through the second and top ropes to the outside, flooring everyone while keeping herself in as she did not go over the top rope! Amanda and Nikki were the last ones left in the ring. Nikki did hit the New York Driver (Michinoku Driver), but was unable to get Amanda out immediately as she landed on the ring apron. However, as Amanda got back to her feet, Nikki hit a running boot kick to knock her off the apron and to the floor.
Winner of the
2011 Lunacy Cup:
Nikki The New York Knockout
After The Match:Amanda was upset at losing, so she decided to get in and further attack Nikki. This was a bad idea, as Amanda ended up taking another New York Driver for her troubles. Nikki then got on the mic and talked a bit about Luna Vachon and how she was "Pre-Diva". Nikki is the first-ever recipient of the Luna Vachon Memorial Lunacy Cup.
