VENDETTA MAKES A "BIG NASTY" DEBUT IN SLO Title on the line at Melee 2011
by Joseph Duncan Sunday, June 12, 2011 14:00 PDTSAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (VP) – Vendetta Pro Wrestling made it's first appearance at The Graduate in San Luis Obispo on Saturday, June 4, 2011, with seven exciting matches including one for the Vendetta Pro Heavyweight Championship. This event, entitled "Melee 2011", was also broadcast live over the Internet by SCR Productions on
justin.tv/vpwtv.
The event began with an emotional tribute video to the recently-passed legend Randy "Macho Man" Savage, created by Christopher "TAK" Clark. This was one of two tributes done on this night for the former WWE & WCW World Heavyweight Champion whose charisma transcended Professional Wrestling, making him one of the most popular and loved superstars ever.
This event featured the return of WWE Tough Enough Contestant Eric, also known as "Big Nasty" Jason Watts. Watts has been known as one of Vendetta Pro's most feared men, and after just recently being eliminated from Tough Enough, he had plenty of frustrations to let out. Fortunately for him, he had not one but two opponents on a one-fall Tri-Force match against Eric Cross and the debuting Jefferson T. Stahr. Stahr was trained by Les Thatcher, and is best known for competing in the Heartland Wrestling Association.
The Vendetta Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship was on the line, as the new Champion, Shannon Ballard, would defend his title against the "Rude, Crude & Tattooed" Brawlin' Bo Cooper. Ballard won the title under controversial circumstances back at Casino Royale, sneaking back into the ring after the lights had went out to eliminate Ty-Tan and win the Casino Royale Rumble, thereby claiming the title which had been vacated by "Gorgeous" Joey kAos. The Office of the Commissioner of Vendetta Pro Wrestling, along with Adrenaline Unleashed Pro Wrestling management, had launched a full-scale investigation into the conclusion of the match, but found no hard evidence that could disqualify Ballard from claiming the title. Cooper, meanwhile, won his opportunity to challenge for the title at April Cruel's Day, defeating #1 Ranked Billy Blade.
So much action took place at Melee 2011. Here now are the results from this epic event:
Opening Match
Disco Machine
-vs.-
OMEGAThese two men have seen success all over California, but had each ran into a tough run here in Vendetta Pro as of late. This match would allow one man a the chance to turn things around and jump right back into contention.
Disco Machine danced his way out first, inciting the crowd like only he can. OMEGA then made his way to the ring to a positive response. Disco's flamboyant behavior can often get under the skin of his opponents, and early on, that is exactly what had happened. But the crowd played a major role in this match, as Disco allowed himself to become distracted by the chants of "Disco sucks", giving OMEGA the opportunity to get back into the match. On a couple of occasions, OMEGA tried to end the match, but Disco managed to escape. Now, in some alternate, parallel universe, maybe Disco managed to come back and win the match. However, in this universe, after multiple attempts OMEGA was able to deliver the Retcon to pick up the three-count.
Winner by Pinfall:
OMEGAAfter the Match:An infuriated Disco Machine grabbed hold of ring announcer Donald DeNoyer's microphone, and insisted to the crowd that Disco does not suck, and that he was leaving "this stinking city."
Tri-Force Three-Way Match
"The Heatseeker"
Eric Cross
-vs.-
Jefferson T. Stahr

Returning WWE Tough Enough Contestant
"Big Nasty"
Jason WattsBefore the match got underway, Eric Cross had ring announcer Donald DeNoyer make it known that he couldn't wait to get out of "this God-Forsaken town". Jefferson T. Stahr then made his first appearance in a Vendetta Pro Wrestling ring, calling himself the greatest thing to come out of Canada since Bob Saget. Then, returning to Vendetta Pro, "Big Nasty" Jason Watts. Cross then took the mic, and teased Watts about "blowing up" during Tough Enough. Watts responded by taking the mic and asking the crowd for a show of hands of who knew "who the hell" Cross was - no response. "Oh, I guess you lose, huh?" Then, he asked for another show of hands of who knew who he was. The response was unanimous. Watts then said one word, "...winning!"
During the match, Stahr and Cross held a loose alliance in order to eliminate Watts, specifically targeting the big man's legs. However, Watts is a tough guy, and while Cross and Stahr tried to attempt a Double-Team Suplex, Watts was able to block it and attempt to Suplex both of them. His leg gave out on him, but he was still able to take the two over. This allowed Watts to begin the assault on the two. The alliance broke when Cross tried to use an O'Connor Roll to pin Watts. Watts kicked out, sending Cross into Stahr. Perhaps instinctively, Cross used a Sunset Flip to try and pin Stahr. Stahr almost got to the ropes, but was still able to kick out. This realization that this is a one-fall match made it a three-sided match again, which worked in the favor of the considerable stronger Watts. Watts delivered a Choke-Slam to Cross and was ready to win the match, when he suddenly bolted out of the ring and into the aisle to go after his nemesis Billy Blade. Stahr capitalized on this opportunity and stole the victory. This makes him an instant contender for the Vendetta Pro Tri-Force Championship.

"Nightmare"
Nathan Graves
-vs.-
"Bad Boy"
Brad TylerOriginally, Graves was scheduled to face Ricky Ruffin. However, Ruffin suffered a back injury while training. It was a minor injury, but enough for him to not pass medical clearance for the match. Filling in for Ruffin on short notice was Vendetta Pro Academy trainee "Bad Boy" Brad Tyler, who would be making his first singles appearance at a major Vendetta Pro Wrestling event. The tremendous experience advantage of Graves was the main factor in the match result, but Tyler did show that with more time to prepare, that this youngster might be going places. On this night, however, the place he was sent to was Elm Street, courtesy of Nathan Graves.
Winner by Pinfall:
Nathan Graves
After the Match:Graves, insulted by the challenge put up by Tyler, continued the assault after the match. Fortunately for Tyler, Ruffin was able to get in and run off Graves. No doubt, these two will meet again.
Singles Match
"The Rock of Love"
Billy Blade
-vs.-
"The Modern-Day Midas"
Mario BanksBefore the match, Vendetta Pro Commissioner Christian Cole announced that Billy Blade would not be facing "The Modern-Day Midas" Mario Banks. Instead, he would be facing:
"Macho Man"
Mario BanksBanks came out to Pomp and Circumstance, wearing gear similar to that originally worn by Randy "Macho Man" Savage, and carrying a box of Slim Jim snacks which he tossed out into the crowd. During the match, Banks used many of Savage's signature maneuvers, including the Sitout Clothesline and Double Axehandle off the top rope to the outside. Blade got in a few of his signature kicks, the (loud) Unskinny Chop, and the Air Guitar Lock while (horribly) singing "Every rose has it's thorn". Near the end of the match, Blade was about to set up Banks for a Superplex off the top, when Jason Watts appeared out in the aisle. This distraction allowed Banks to throw Blade off, then to hit the Macho Flying Elbowdrop for the three-count and the win.
Winner by Pinfall:
Mario Banks
After the Match:After a high-five in the aisle with Banks, Watts came into the ring and confronted Blade. Watts then clocked him with a hard right, and the brawl ensued until both Vendetta Pro and the venue's security broke it up. Commissioner Christian Cole then announced that on July 16 in Atascadero at Summer Sizzle, that Billy Blade will team up with his partner "Sexy" Sean Casey to form the Midnight Delight as they will face the team of "Big Nasty" Jason Watts and someone who Blade has been in the ring with before... former WWE U.S., InterContinental and World Tag-Team Champion Carlito Colon!
Singles Match
"Big Country"
Jody Kristofferson
-vs.-
Former ECW, WWE & TNA Superstar
Gangrel The Vampire WarriorJody Kristofferson's father, the legendary Kris Kristofferson, once played a vampire slayer in the
Blade movie trilogy. On this night, "Big Country" would try his hand at slaying vampires, as he faced Gangrel. Gangrel found someone in Kristofferson who could match his power, and at times, even overwhelm him with it--not many can do this. That said, Gangrel has wrestled in front of tens of thousands and for many years, so the crowd would not be able to get to him. Kristofferon, on the other hand, often responded to the vocal crowd at The Graduate, and was becoming frustrated with that, as well as for the difficulties in trying to keep the veteran Gangrel down. Towards the end, Kristofferson had Gangrel hurt in the corner, and was about ready to deliver the proverbial stake through the heart with his signature move, the Spear. However, Gangrel was able to evade the move, and when Kristofferson turned around, Gangrel executed the Impaler DDT for the three-count and the victory.

Inter-Gender Six-Person Tag-Team Match
The team of
Greg Hernandez
Jesse Jimenez
'Y'
"The Vegas Vixen"
Terra Calaway
-vs.-
The team of
Sunami
Kadin Anthony
&
BuggyDos Perfectos, the team of Hernandez 'Y' Jimenez from the North Side of Awesome, came out first. Hernandez stated to the crowd that he was told he had to "be nice" by Commissioner Christian Cole. Therefore, he wanted to thank the bartenders, as because of them, San Luis Obispo was no longer had the ugliest crowd he's ever seen in his life (the opinions of Dos Perfectos are theirs alone and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Vendetta Pro Wrestling, SCR Productions, or their sponsors). Hernandez then introduced Terra Calaway to the crowd. Following that, SU/KA, the team of Sunami & Kadin Anthony made their way to ring, followed by their partner, Buggy.
The Inter-Gender rules of this match allowed for the men and the Vendetta Vixens to face each other. From the outset, this match was filled with hijinks, including a period in which Buggy was in a zone, Hiptossing both members of Dos Perfectos, Calaway, referee Jay Stone, her own partner Kadin, and even attempted one on Sunami. If you need any example of why people have stated for years that tag-team matches require multiple officials, this action-filled match (both inside and outside the ring) is perfect. Near the end, Buggy delivered the Buggy Bulldog to Calaway and was set to win, when Hernandez managed to sneak in from the outside and hit a Superkick to Buggy. Hernandez dragged the unconscious Calaway over her, and the referee made the three count.

Brawlin' Bo Cooper
w/ Ghetto Star
-vs.-
Vendetta Pro Heavyweight Champion
Shannon BallardShannon Ballard made it known that while the considerable larger Cooper would probably fare better if this match had involved tables and chairs, that because this is a 'Wrestling' match for the Vendetta Pro 'Wrestling' Championship, that he would embarrass Cooper with his supposedly superior wrestling ability.
Cooper then made his way out. From the outset, it was obvious that Cooper had a huge advantage in terms of power and leverage. That said, one thing about the Champion from Vancouver, British Columbia is that he's crafty. He'll find ways to transition quickly from defense to offense, be it by hook or by crook.
This match went not only to the outside of the ring, but outside of the corral area and around behind the crowd--pretty much all over The Graduate, with referee Jay Stone allowing a lot of bending if not outright breaking of the rules. The cage dancer Mary Jane even became part of the match at one point, as Ballard got into the cage and tried to hide behind her, only for him to throw her onto Cooper.
Once it got back into the ring, Ballard brought in a table, setting it up in the corner! Ballard then went to Irish Whip Cooper into it, but Cooper reversed it, sending Ballard forward. Ballard put on the brakes, but Cooper was able to grab hold of the Champion. It seemed as if Cooper was going to win the match and take the title in Ballard's first title defense. J.D. Horror had other plans, as he ran in and distracted the big man long enough for Ballard to sneak in and hit a Low Blow while the official was dealing with Horror, then the Champion won the match using a simple School Boy rollup for the three count.

and STILL
Vendetta Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion:
Shannon Ballard
After the Match:Shannon Ballard began to assault Cooper, but this proved to be a mistake. Cooper set up and put Ballard through the table that he brought in, delvering an Elbow Drop for good measure to finish off the table as well as Ballard. This time, Shannon Ballard escaped with the Vendetta Pro Heavyweight title, but what about next time?
In addition, this feud between J.D. Horror and Bo Cooper has been going on since the first time Horror got involved in a match back at April Cruels Day. Sooner or later, things will come to a head and these two will do battle inside the ring.
Vendetta Pro Wrestling's next event will be on Saturday, July 16 in Atascadero, California, as we celebrate our two-year anniversary at Summer Sizzle!
